The Silver Spades Awards is an opportunity to recognize young professionals and entrepreneurs that strive to make Saskatchewan a better place to live and do business. Attended by a wide variety of people for different industries, the event is a great opportunity to foster connections between entrepreneurs, young professionals and the business community.

The Silver Spades Awards recognize the following:

  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Young Professional of the Year
  • Peddle Award (presented to honour an individual that has moved SYPE forward in the Saskatchewan business community)
  • Ace of Spades (presented to a local mentor that has greatly assisted the hosting chapter in advancement and growth)

YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR

The SYPE Young Entrepreneur of the Year recognizes a young entrepreneur or team that has demonstrated operating success including sales, profitability, growth prospects, job creation and market acceptance.

$5,000 cash prize

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Nominees for the SYPE YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR should demonstrate professionalism, including: integrity, vision, drive, perseverance, and willingness to take risk.

An entrepreneur is a person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a business venture.

To be eligible, a nominee must:

  • Be a Saskatchewan resident age 35 or under as of December 31, 2020.
  • Be a founding member of the business, OR bought into a business, OR acquired a business.
  • Be a key member of the executive team and have strategic decision making power.
  • Operate a Saskatchewan-based business that has demonstrated operating success over a three month period, including sales, profitability, growth prospects, job creation, and market acceptance.
  • Demonstrate a level of innovation and/or expansion through products, services, production processes, marketing strategies, or any other aspect of the business.
  • Consideration will be given to entrepreneurs who are contributing to his or her community through charitable work, service clubs or through any other leadership or volunteer capabilities, including any previous awards or honours accorded to him or her.

YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

The Saskatchewan YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR recognizes and individual who has demonstrated professionalism, including: integrity, vision, drive, perseverance and willingness to take risk.

A professional is a person who engages in a given activity as a source of livelihood or as a career. Because of the personal and confidential nature of many professional services and thus the necessity to place a great deal of trust in them, most professionals are held up to strict ethical and moral regulations.

$2,500 cash prize

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

To be eligible, a nominee must:

  • Be a Saskatchewan resident age 35 or under as of December 31, 2020.
  • Be actively employed by a company or operate their own professional practice
  • Have a demonstrable record of success and achievement over a minimum two-year period, in the areas of:
    1. Professional and commercial achievement or advancement,
    2. Effective maintenance of their company or firm’s existing client base, and effective customer relationship management, whether it be internal or external customers,
    3. Successful expansion of their company or firm’s clientele,
    4. Innovation in the areas of business operation, products, services, or marketing strategies offered or implemented by their firm or company, and/or
    5. Contributions to their community through charitable service work, service clubs, or through any other leadership or volunteer capabilities.
  • Finalists will be asked for 2 letters of reference
